Statement of Governor Bob McDonnell on Veterans Day

Statement

Location: Richmond, VA
Issues: Veterans

Governor Bob McDonnell issued the following statement today regarding Veterans Day holiday.

"Today, Virginians join all Americans in thanking and remembering the brave men and women who have defended our freedom. The sacrifice of these heroes and their families makes it possible for us to continue to live freely and to pursue our dreams here in the world's greatest nation. On this day each year, we remember, reflect, and recognize yet again that freedom has never been, and will never be, free. All veterans, including the one in ten Virginians who serve or have served in the armed forces, deserve our eternal gratitude.

"Earlier today, I was honored to take part in the Veteran's Day Commemoration Celebration at the Virginia War Memorial. At the Commonwealth's monument honoring those who served to defend our way of life, I was again reminded of the great sacrifice of all veterans. I hope you'll join me in thanking the 840,000 veterans who call Virginia home and take the time to remember our heroes, including those serving selflessly today in the military."
